Abhijit Majumdar on ventilator support, condition risky

Bhubaneswar: The health of Eminent Odia music director and singer Abhijit Majumdar has deteriorated and he is currently on ventilator support.
The special team of doctors treating him has said that his condition is risky and his brain has been affected. He has incurred an infection in the body. He is admitted in AIIMS Bhubaneswar.
Doctor Ashutosh Biswas, Director, AIIMS informed that, “His brain has been affected and he is currently undergoing treatment. He is on ventilator support.”
On evaluation, he was found to have:
- Osmotic Demyelination Syndrome (both pontine and extrapontine),
- Bilateral Pneumonia (HAP),
- Blood stream infection ( MDRO- Acenetobactor),
- Chronic liver disease
- Dyseletrolytemia ( hypokalemia, hypophosphatemia, hypomagnesimia)
- Nutritional deficiency ( VitaminD, folic acid deficiency)
He is on culture directed appropriate antibiotics, and other supportive care as per the standard protocol. His vitals are stable at present.
Odisha Health minister Mukesh Mahaling had visited him in the hospital and inquired about Majumdar’s health condition. He also held a discussion with his family members and doctors who are providing him treatment. He also said that Majumdar’s condition has improved and if needed he will be shifted to New Delhi for further treatment.
