Two Held With Ganja After Police Chase in Subarnapur

Subarnapur: In a major crackdown under Operation Prahaar, police on Monday arrested two persons, including a woman, and seized ganja from their car in Subarnapur district. Another accused managed to escape during the chase.
According to reports, Binika police had launched vehicle checks after receiving a tip-off about cannabis smuggling in the area. Officers spotted a suspicious car without a number plate speeding on the route and signalled it to stop. However, the driver ignored the signal, prompting police to chase the vehicle.

The car was finally intercepted near Gulapada Chhak. On being cornered, three occupants—two men and a woman—abandoned the vehicle and tried to flee across a farmland. Police managed to catch one of the men along with the woman, while the third suspect escaped. Their identities have not yet been revealed.
Officials said the seized contraband will be weighed in the presence of a magistrate, and efforts are underway to track down the absconding accused. Investigation has also begun to trace the source and intended destination of the ganja.
The incident comes just a day after another dramatic case in the district, where a driver set a ganja-laden car ablaze after its tyre burst, destroying both the vehicle and the cannabis to evade arrest.
