Cattle herd stranded in Mahanadi river in Cuttack

Cuttack: A cattle herd of over 15 cows are stranded on the banks of Mahanadi river near Kushapangi in Banki of Cuttack district on Sunday.

The water level of the Mahanadi river suddenly rose last night when the cattle herd had gone for grazing. The cattle could not be rescued as the water level had risen. As of now 15 heads of cattle are still stranded.

The Dumapada fire brigade started the rescue mission. “The cows were grazing near the riverbed of Mahanadi but the water level in the river surged and the cows were stranded in water. We are trying to rescue them,” informed the officials.

Similarly, in the riverbeds of Kathajodi in the Trishulia bridge near Kajipatna.
