Youth’s Death at Bhubaneswar De-Addiction Centre Sparks Murder Allegations

Bhubaneswar: Tension prevailed in the Bharatpur area of Bhubaneswar after the death of a 28-year-old youth at a de-addiction centre on Tuesday evening.

The deceased has been identified as Suryakant Mahapatra, a resident of Singhanathpur under Banki police limits in Cuttack district. He had reportedly been admitted to the rehabilitation centre on August 29.

According to the centre authorities, Suryakant died by suicide. However, his family members, who rushed to the facility after being informed, refuted the claim and alleged that he was murdered.

The bereaved family has demanded a thorough investigation into the incident and strict action against those responsible. Meanwhile, the rehabilitation centre is yet to issue an official statement regarding the allegations.
