Woman killed, husband critical after fertiliser laden tractor hit bike

Berhampur: In a tragic incident, a woman was killed while her husband sustained critical injury in a road mishap in Ganjam district of Odisha today morning. The accident took place in the Chikiti pentha area after a fertiliser laden truck hit the bike in which the couple was going to temple.
The deceased woman has been identified as Padma Sethy. She was working as an Anganwadi worker. Her husband, identified as Pradeep Sethy is an employee of the Horticulture department. He has been admitted to MKCG hospital in critical condtion.
As per reports, the husband and wife were on their way to the Akrura Nath temple in Chikiti Garh from the Jakara village under Digapahandi block in a bike to have darshan of the deities on Ekadashi. However, their temple visit could not be possible as on the way near Chikiti Garah a fertiliser laden tractor hit their bike.
Accordingly, the woman died on the spot, while her husband sustained critical injury. The locals rescued him and rushed to the Community Health Center in Chikiti. However, as his health condition deteriorated, he was then shifted to the MKCG Medical College and hospital in Berhampur for treatment.
After getting information, K Nuagaon police visited the spot and initiated investigation. Further probe of the case is underway.
