Jharpada Durga Puja to be held in Melan Padia instead of Jail road chowk this year

Bhubaneswar: The Jharpada Durga Puja Samiti has taken a decision to change the location of Jharpada Durga Puja this year. The puja will be held in the Melan field (padia) instead of the Jail Road Chowk in Bhubaneswar.
This step comes at a time when the Durga Puja is round the corner with just a month left for Dussehra. The Jharpada which lies on the Cuttack road, draws heavy traffic during Dussehra. To avoid the traffic congestion during the upcoming festive season this decision will be very beneficial.
According to reports, following a dispute between two groups a controversy about the Durga Puja celebrations arose. However, the dispute has been resolved and this year instead of the Jail Road chowk the Puja celebrations will be done at the Melan Padia.
Like every year, this time too, the puja will be held with great pomp. The Puja was reportedly going on for 14 years. The locals were concerned and dissatisfied about the Durga Puja in Jharpada this year.
According to information, the Durga Puja was first started by the villagers in Jharpada in 2011.
Similarly, No high arch or light gate will be built over the road. This rule has been implemented especially for narrow roads. The District Collector gave these instructions to the Puja Committees in the Mahanagar Shanti Samiti meeting held on Monday.
