Boudh DEO issues show cause notice to 56 schools for not providing midday meal

Boudh: The District Education Officer (DEO), Boudh has issued show-cause notice to 56 schools for not providing Mid-day meals to the students on Independence Day. The school authorities have been issued the notices for the dereliction in duty in providing the mid-day meal.
The 56 Government-run schools under three Block Education Officers (BEOs) had not provided the mid day meal to the students on the Independence day. The DEO took cognisance of the matter and responded in a swift manner by issuing a show-cause notice to the said 56 schools.
As many as 33 schools under Harabhanga block, 15 schools under Boudh block and 8 schools under Kantamal block in Boudh district.
The said BEOs have been asked to submit their responses to the School Management Committee (SMC) within one week. The DEO directed that if they have provided the Mid-day meal to the students then photos and videos should be submitted.
The Mid Day Meals Scheme (MDM) is a welfare program introduced by the government to address the issues of hunger, malnutrition, and low school attendance among children.
The scheme aims to provide free and nutritious meals to school children across the country. Under this initiative, a hot cooked meal is served to children in primary and upper primary schools.
