Students Can Travel to School Free of Cost in Govt Buses

Bhubaneswar: Good news for students in Odisha. Now students can go to school for free in government buses. School and Mass Education Minister Nityanand Gond made this big announcement on Friday. He said that students can go to school for free in Govt buses by showing their identity cards.

The Minister also said that all school students in Odisha will be provided with free textbooks. According to the National Education Policy, there will be a major change in primary education. Steps will be taken to develop SCERT in the NCERT format. The Minister Nityanand Gond said that more focus will be given on providing quality education.

It is to be noted that yesterday Odisha CM Mohan Charan Majhi had announced free textbooks for all students up to Class 10. Earlier till VII Class books were being provided and only SC/ST students were getting free textbooks in Class IX and X.

He had also announced that ANMs/health workers will be appointed in hostels (1 per 300 students). Besides he said that approval process for new private schools will go fully digital.

The CM also announced that a multilingual education centre will come up in Koraput for tribal children who can get educated in mother tongue.

Besides, strengthening of SCERT in line with NCERT framework will also be carried out.
