Berhampur University student attacked by non-students inside campus

Berhampur: Agitation in Berhampur University was seen again after a student was attacked by some non-students last night in the campus. The Berhampur University falls under the jurisdiction of Gopalpur police station in Ganjam district.

Journalism and Mass Communication student Abhilash Mishra was attacked by a group of outsiders yesterday. He has sustained serious injuries and is undergoing treatment at MKCG Hospital in Berhampur.

Sanakhemundi MLA Ramesh Jena has condemned the incident and gheraoed the Gopalpur police station, demanding justice for the injured student. The Students’ Congress and many students of the university gheraoed the police station late last night.

Reportedly, a fight broke out between two groups due to an argument which led to the unfortunate incident. Ramesh Jena said that the police station will be gheraoed again if the accused is not arrested immediately.
