Odisha Govt proposes creation of 12 NACs in 7 districts

Bhubaneswar: Odisha government on Saturday has issued a proposal for creation of 12 new Notified Area Councils (NACs) in 7 districts.

The Housing and Urban Development Department of the Government of Odisha has issued a draft notification in this regard, inviting feedback and objections from residents and stakeholders within a specified time.

Once finalized, the 12 proposed areas will officially become NACs, giving them access to improved facilities such as Reliable water supply, better sanitation and waste management, road development and street lighting, market infrastructure and dedicated urban development funds.

This initiative aims to improve civic services and accelerate urban development in fast-growing towns.

It is to be noted that a Notified Area Council (NAC) is a type of urban local body (ULB) formed in areas that are developing urban characteristics but are not yet large enough to be declared municipalities. NACs help provide better civic amenities and targeted development.
