8 Injured as Pick-up Van Tyre Bursts in Cuttack

Athagarh: As many as eight were injured, two of them critically, after the tyre of a pick up van burst in the Kakhadi square in Athagarh of Cuttack last night.
According to information, during the Ganesh idol immersion procession, the front tyre of the vehicle burst following which, the pick up van met hit a tree and met with an accident.
As many as 40 people were going on two vehicles from the Baribandha region of Sambalpur district had gone for the Ganesh puja idol immersion. One of the vehicles met with an accident.
According to information, all the injured have been rushed to Community Health Centre (CHC), Berhampur for treatment. Out of the injured, two are severely injured.
In another incident, as many as six people had a close call after a passenger bus overturned to the roadside on the Khordha Balangir National Highway. The accident occured near Jamusahi under Banigocha police station in Nayagarh district last night.
According to information, the private bus was carrying around 35 passengers. The private bus named Blue balloon was going from Bhubaneswar to Balangir. Seeing that it is an empty road, the bus was trying to overtake a lorry.
While trying to overtake the lorry, the bus driver lost control and fell to the roadside. The conductor and at least five passengers were injured when the bus plunged to the gorge.
The conductor of the bus said, “Driver was trying to overtake the goods laden truck. But there was not much space and our bus plunged to the roadside gorge.”
