7-Year-Old Girl Found Dead in Kendrapara Canal; Two Detained for Questioning

Kendrapara: Rajnagar police have detained two individuals in connection with the death of a seven-year-old girl in Badhinakolha village under Rajnagar block of Kendrapara district.

The detained persons have been identified as Benucharan Das and his son, both residents of the same village. They were picked up late Thursday night and are currently being interrogated by the police.

The development comes after the victim’s family filed a complaint alleging that Benucharan Das murdered the minor and dumped her body in a nearby canal. The girl’s mother has accused him of killing her daughter and disposing of the body to conceal the crime.

According to reports, the child had been missing since around 10 am on April 2. Her body was recovered on Friday from a canal near the village, triggering shock and outrage in the area.

Upon receiving information, the Kendrapara Superintendent of Police, along with a scientific team and a dog squad, rushed to the spot and launched a detailed investigation. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.

Police said further investigation is underway and all angles are being examined.
