6815 Covid positives in India

New Delhi: Covid is spreading rapidly, the number of cases is increasing with each passing day. The active cases crossed the six thousand five mark. Active cases have reached 6815.
In the last 24 hours, 783 new infections have been detected in the country. The maximum number of 2053 infections has been detected in Kerala.
Gujarat has the second highest infection after Kerala. 1109 infections have been detected. More than 500 cases in Delhi and West Bengal. As Covid infection is increasing, it has been advised to wear masks in crowded places.
The Union Health Ministry has also advised all the states to deal with the situation.
States have been directed to ensure availability of oxygen, isolation beds, ventilators and necessary medicines. In view of the Corona situation, the Karnataka government has appealed to the guardians of school children. Those with cold, cough, fever and other symptoms have been refused to come to school.
The biggest problem with Covid cases in India is the JN.1 variant is that it spreads very quickly between people. It has an additional mutation that helps it enter cells and weaken the immune system. Many doctors have said that the JN.1 variant is not so dangerous and people do not need to panic.
In view of the increase in the number of COVID-19 cases in Kerala, the state health department issued guidelines to hospitals and health workers. It has also directed the government and private hospitals to conduct mock drills.
There have been three deaths:
- Delhi (1 death)- 90 year-old-female with respiratory acidosis, CCF, CKD. Primary cause of death is other comorbidities and Covid finding is incidental.
- Jharkhand (1 death) – 44 year-old-male with Aspirational Pneumonia, ARDS, Septic Shock, Hypertension, Hypothyroidism
- Kerala (1 Death) – 79 year-old-male with Diabetes Mellitus, Hypertension, CAD, CKD, Heart failure, Stroke, Recent Neck of Femur Fracture, Hemiarthroplasty done on 17/05/2025. (Cause of death – Covid-19 Pneumonia, MODS, Sepsis)
