33,128 Ineligible Ration Cards Cancelled in Odisha’s E-KYC Drive

The Odisha government has announced that the E-KYC process will continue until December 31, Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra informed the Assembly in a written reply.
During the verification drive, officials identified 6,83,995 deceased individuals linked to ration cards. As a result, the government cancelled 33,128 ineligible ration cards, affecting 1,20,199 family members.
Moreover, Khordha district reported the highest number of fake ration cards, with 4,747 cases detected. Since June last year, 15,33,153 people have applied for E-KYC, reflecting the scale of the exercise.
The minister emphasised that the initiative aims to weed out fake and ineligible beneficiaries while ensuring that genuine cardholders continue to receive their entitlements. He added that strict monitoring will strengthen transparency in the public distribution system and safeguard resources for deserving families.
