3 detained from Bhubaneswar Airport with hydroponic marijuana

Bhubaneswar: The Customs Department at Biju Patnaik International Airport detained three persons after recovering hydroponic marijuana valued at over Rs 30 crore.

Suspecting something fishy, the customs officials inspected the baggage of the three passengers who had arrived at the Bhubaneswar airport from Bangkok on IndiGo flight 6E-1066.

During the inspection, the customs officials reportedly found around 30 kilograms of high-grade hydroponic marijuana, the market value of which is assumed to be Rs 30 crore.

Following the seizure of the drug, the customs officials detained the three passengers whom they identified as Mohammad Jam, Mohit, and Bamati. All of them are said to be residents of Fatehpur Sikri in Uttar Pradesh.

Interrogation of the detained passengers is underway to find out the source of the contraband. However, the prima facie probe suggests the possibility of an international smuggling syndicate.
