24 Kg Ganja Seized Near Charampa Railway Station in Bhadrak, Four Detained

Bhadrak: In a major crackdown on illegal drug trafficking, police seized around 24 kg of smuggled ganja from the malgodown area near Charampa railway station in Bhadrak on Friday. The seized contraband is estimated to be worth over ₹3 lakh in the illegal market.

During the operation, the Special Squad detained four persons — three women and one man — for questioning in connection with the smuggling racket. Police said a detailed investigation has been launched to identify other individuals involved in the illegal trade.

According to sources, the Charampa area has gradually emerged as a hub for illegal liquor and ganja trafficking. Several outsiders are reportedly engaged in the trade, while some local smugglers are suspected of supplying the contraband to them.

Acting on specific intelligence inputs, the Special Squad carried out a raid in the goods godown area near the railway station and seized the large quantity of ganja. The detained persons are currently being interrogated, and further raids are likely based on the information obtained during questioning.
