18-Year-Old Electrocuted While Setting Up Wedding Tent in Ganjam

Berhampur: A tragic accident claimed the life of an 18-year-old youth in Odisha’s Ganjam district after he was electrocuted while setting up a wedding tent late Thursday night.
The deceased has been identified as Dinesh Nayak, a resident of Saranouti village. The incident occurred in Lalitpur village under Badagada police limits, where Dinesh had gone to assist with preparations for a wedding ceremony.

According to preliminary reports, Dinesh reportedly lost his balance during the work. In an attempt to steady himself, he grabbed a nearby electric pole and accidentally came into contact with a live wire, resulting in a severe electric shock.
The impact of the shock threw him to the ground, leaving him critically injured. Locals immediately rushed to his aid and took him to the Badagada Community Health Centre. However, doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Police have taken custody of the body and initiated an investigation to ascertain the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
The untimely death has left residents of both Saranouti and Lalitpur villages in deep shock, with concerns being raised over the lack of safety precautions during such work involving electrical lines.
