16 hardcore Maoists arrested from Odisha-Chhattisgarh border

Malkangiri: In a major success to the police and the armed forces, as many as 16 hardcore Maoists have been arrested from the border areas of Odisha and Chhattisgarh. According to reliable reports, the security forces have successfully arrested 16 Maoists from three different forests of Malkangiri district and Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh.
The STF, DRG and CRPF Cobra jawans have arrested the Maoists during combing operations in Gangalur, Basaguda and Jangla forests. Security forces have seized a large quantity of Maoist arms and explosives from them.
Earlier on June 2, as many as 16 hardcore Maoists surrendered in Chattisgarh. The Maoists surrendered to the Bijapur SP of Chhattisgarh, bordering Malkangiri district. 16 Maoists, including two hardcore members of the People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA) battalion, surrendered to authorities in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh on Monday.

The hardcore Maoists belonged to the Bhairamgarh area of East Bastar Division. There was a reward of Rs. 28 lakh in their names. 24 Maoists surrendered after being attracted by the rehabilitation scheme of the Chhattisgarh government.
Bijapur SP Jitendra Chauhan said that all kinds of help and cooperation will be provided to them to join the mainstream of society. Recently as many as nine hardcore Maoists surrendered in Chhattisgarh. Nine hardcore Maoists had surrendered to the Sukma SP of Chhattisgarh bordering Malkangiri district.
