12 Odisha Cities Cross 35°C as Heat Intensifies; Jharsuguda Hottest at 36.4°C

Bhubaneswar: Odisha is reeling under a fresh spell of heat, with at least 12 cities recording temperatures above 35°C on Sunday, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Jharsuguda emerged as the hottest place in the state at 36.4°C, followed closely by Bhubaneswar and Subarnapur at 36.2°C each. Angul recorded 36.1°C, while Baripada touched 36°C.

Chandbali, Talcher, Titlagarh and Dhenkanal reported 35.8°C each. Sambalpur registered 35.6°C, Bhawanipatna 35.4°C, and Bolangir 35°C, reflecting widespread heat across interior and coastal districts.
Several other towns also experienced high temperatures, with Paralakhemundi at 34.8°C, Sundergarh at 34.5°C, and Rourkela and Cuttack at 34.4°C each. Jagatsinghpur recorded 34°C.
In contrast, Daringbadi and Nabarangpur were relatively cooler at 30°C, offering slight relief amid the prevailing hot conditions.
The IMD has advised residents to take necessary precautions, including staying hydrated, avoiding prolonged exposure to direct sunlight during peak afternoon hours, and taking special care of vulnerable groups such as children and the elderly.
With temperatures expected to remain elevated, authorities are closely monitoring the situation to mitigate heat-related risks across the state.
