₹11.63 Lakh Stolen from Scooter in Barpali, Probe Underway

Barpali (Bargarh): In a daring daylight theft, an amount of ₹11.63 lakh was stolen from the storage compartment of a scooter parked near Tahasil Chowk in Barpali on Wednesday.
The victim, Kshiti Pati Pradhan, a resident of Kadlipali village, had reportedly withdrawn the large sum from the State Bank branch in Barpali shortly before the incident. According to police, Pradhan had kept the cash in the scooter’s dicky and made a quick stop at a shop in Gahir Complex.
Taking advantage of this brief absence, an unidentified miscreant opened the storage compartment and fled with the money.
Realizing the theft soon after, Pradhan lodged a complaint at the Barpali police station. Police teams promptly reached the spot and began a thorough investigation. CCTV footage from nearby shops and establishments is being examined to identify the culprit.
Bargarh Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Padarabinda Tripathi also visited the location to assess the situation and oversee the investigation.
Authorities have urged the public to remain cautious while carrying large amounts of cash and advised against leaving valuables unattended in vehicles, especially in unsecured storage spaces. The probe is ongoing.
