Two Women Succumb to Burn Injuries After Gas Cylinder Blast in Ganjam

Bhubaneswar: Two women who sustained critical burn injuries in a fire accident at Chandnabadi village under Chikiti block in Ganjam district have succumbed while undergoing treatment at AIIMS Bhubaneswar.

The deceased have been identified as Hemlata Behera and S. Rebati Reddy. The tragic incident took place on Wednesday when a fire reportedly broke out due to a gas cylinder leak at Rebati’s residence. Hemlata, who was visiting her at the time, was also caught in the blaze.

Family members and neighbours rushed to the spot and rescued both women, who had suffered severe burns. They were initially taken to a local hospital and later referred to AIIMS Bhubaneswar for advanced treatment.

Despite the doctors’ best efforts, Hemlata succumbed to her injuries on Wednesday, followed by Rebati on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the local MLA has expressed deep condolences to the bereaved families and assured all possible support.
