Two Dead, One Injured in Gopa-Konark Road Accident

Bhubaneswar: In a tragic accident late Tuesday night, two people lost their lives and one was critically injured after a car lost control and struck a mango tree near Junei Market on the Gopa-Konark road.

The deceased have been identified as Biswajit Sahu from Kantapada in Cuttack district and Pradeep Behera from Bhubaneswar. The injured, Tapan Sahu, is currently undergoing treatment at Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar after being initially treated at Gopa Primary Healthcare Center (PHC).

Sources indicate that the accident occurred due to overspeeding, which led the car to crash into the tree. Locals, alerted by the loud impact, rushed to the scene and contacted the police and fire brigade. The fire brigade had to cut open the vehicle to rescue the occupants.

The three friends were reportedly returning home from a visit to the Konark Sun Temple when the incident took place. An investigation into the accident is underway.
