Tourist Entry Banned at Gajapati Waterfalls Amid Heavy Rainfall and Rising Water Levels

Bhubaneswar: The Gajapati District Tourism Department has imposed a strict ban on tourist entry to all waterfalls in the district following continuous heavy rainfall and dangerously rising water levels. The move aims to ensure public safety amid worsening weather conditions.
The decision was announced in accordance with directives from the Gajapati Collectorate after intense rainfall caused a sharp increase in the flow and volume of water across the district’s waterfalls. Authorities expressed concern that the strong currents and slippery surroundings pose a serious threat to visitors.
In an official communication, the Tourism Department instructed Block Development Officers in Mohana, Kashinagar, Rayagada, R. Udayagiri, Nuagada, Gumma, and Gajapati to strictly enforce the ban and prevent tourist access to all waterfall sites.
“Due to heavy rainfall in the upper regions and hills, the flow and water levels of waterfalls have risen considerably. For the safety of tourists, entry to these locations is strictly prohibited, and necessary measures have been implemented to ensure compliance,” the department stated.
The district administration is closely monitoring the weather situation and has confirmed that the restrictions will remain in place until water levels recede and conditions return to safe limits.
