Scooter Carrying Firecrackers Explodes on Jaydev Vihar Flyover; Two Injured

Bhubaneswar: Panic gripped commuters on the Jaydev Vihar flyover on Wednesday evening after a scooter carrying firecrackers exploded and caught fire, leaving two persons seriously injured.
According to eyewitnesses, the explosion occurred when the victims were traveling from Bhubaneswar toward Cuttack. A loud blast was heard near the OCAC building, following which the scooter was engulfed in flames. Firecrackers scattered across the road, causing traffic disruption on the busy stretch.
Passersby immediately rushed the injured to Capital Hospital and alerted emergency services. Police and Fire personnel arrived shortly after and brought the situation under control.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the explosion may have been caused by friction or heat buildup among the firecrackers being transported on the scooter.
With Diwali approaching, authorities have once again urged citizens to exercise caution while handling or transporting firecrackers, warning that such negligence has led to similar accidents in previous years.
