Pravati Parida Condemns Gang Rape of Odia Student in Durgapur, Seeks Swift Action

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Deputy Chief Minister and Women & Child Development Minister Pravati Parida has strongly condemned the alleged gang rape of an Odia student at a medical college in Durgapur, West Bengal, and urged for immediate and strict action against the culprits.
Expressing her anguish in a post on X (formerly Twitter), Parida wrote, “The gang rape of an Odia student at a medical college in Durgapur, West Bengal, has deeply pained me. I pray to Lord Jagannath for the speedy recovery of the victim who is under treatment. Whoever the culprits may be, the West Bengal government must take strict action through a swift investigation.”

The Deputy Chief Minister assured that the Odisha government stands firmly with the victim and her family, pledging all possible assistance. She also stated that Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has instructed senior officials to coordinate with the West Bengal government to ensure prompt and appropriate action.
Tagging West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in her post, Parida emphasized the need for accountability and swift justice for the victim.
