Over Rs 49,857.47 cr collected in Excise revenue in 10 years: Minister

Bhubaneswar: The state has witnessed a remarkable rise in excise revenue, with a total of Rs 49,857.47 crore collected over the past 10 years, spanning from FY 2014-15 to FY 2024-25, as informed by Excise Minister Prithviraj Harichandan in the state assembly on Saturday.
In response to a query from Keonjhar MLA Akhila Chandra Naik, Harichandan provided detailed data on the number of excise shops functioning across Odisha.
The Minister stated that, over the last decade, a total of 41,450 excise shops have been operational across the state.
He also shared information on the current status of liquor shops in the state, confirming that there are 3,859 local, foreign, and other types of liquor shops currently in operation.
