Odisha to Create Four New Tehsils; Total Count to Rise to 321

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government has approved the creation of four new tehsils in an effort to boost administrative efficiency and improve service delivery at the grassroots level. With this, the total number of tehsils in the state will increase from 317 to 321.

The Revenue and Disaster Management Department has issued formal letters to the Collectors of three districts to initiate the process of setting up the new units. As per the proposal, two tehsils will be established in Bhubaneswar, while one each will come up in Cuttack and Sambalpur districts.

District Collectors have been asked to prepare the necessary modalities for the formation of the tehsils. The respective Revenue Divisional Commissioners (RDCs) have also been instructed to complete all preliminary procedures within seven days.

Tehsils are vital administrative units responsible for land revenue administration, maintenance of land records, and delivery of key public services. The addition of new tehsils is expected to ease citizen access to government services and enhance governance at the local level.
