Odisha Police celebrates 90th Foundation Day

Bhubaneswar: The 90th Foundation Day of Odisha Police was celebrated with grandeur in Cuttack, featuring special programs that showcased the force’s legacy and achievements.
The occasion was marked by a ceremonial parade, awards distribution, and inspiring speeches by senior police officials, honouring the contributions of the police in maintaining law and order across the state.
A grand function was held at the Reserve Police Ground in Buxi Bazar, Cuttack, with Director General of Police (DGP) YB Khurania gracing the event as the chief guest. The ceremony commenced with an impressive parade, during which the DGP took the salute and received the guard of honour from the marching contingents.
DGP Khurania highlighted the pivotal role of Odisha Police in ensuring public safety and upholding justice over the past nine decades. “Police officials have consistently demonstrated exemplary service, and I extend my heartfelt wishes to them. Our personnel remain dedicated, even during festivals like Holi and Diwali, when people celebrate with their families,” he said.
He also acknowledged the significant strides made by Odisha Police in combating the Maoist threat. “In 2024, we registered remarkable successes — several Maoists were neutralized, eight were arrested, and 24 surrendered. A major joint operation launched in January by Odisha Police, CRPF, and Chhattisgarh forces resulted in the elimination of a top Maoist cadre along with 17 others. Our Special Operations Group (SOG) jawans played a crucial role in this operation,” he added.
During the ceremony, numerous police personnel were honoured for their exceptional service and dedication.
