Odisha: Is Home Delivery Of Liquor To Be Allowed In Lockdown?

 

Bhubaneswar (Reporters Today Bureau): In a view of the lockdown imposed in Odisha, the state government has allowed providing liquor to consumers at their doorsteps.

In this Regard, Excise Principal Secretary SK Lohani wrote “Based on past experience, it is to point out that in case genuine liquor is not made available to the consumers during lockdown period, they may resort to illegal and informal channels which will be harmful to their health and safety”.

Essentially, home conveyance of alcohol (CL/OS) by CL/OS licensees will be allowed following the existing rules of the Excise Department.

The public authority has likewise chosen to permit activity of the entire godown, of Beverage Corporation for wholesale trade between 6 AM to 2 PM.

Free movement of vehicles belonging to authorized agencies carrying genuine duty paid liquor.
