Odisha Inspector Held for Raping Woman SI on False Marriage Promise

Bhubaneswar: A police inspector in Odisha has been arrested on charges of raping a woman sub-inspector after allegedly deceiving her with a false promise of marriage.

According to reports, the accused, who was recently promoted from sub-inspector to inspector, allegedly exploited the woman’s trust and sexually assaulted her over a period of time. Following the victim’s complaint, police conducted a detailed investigation that led to his arrest.

The officer has been booked under sections pertaining to rape and cheating. After his bail petition was rejected, he was produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody.

Police officials said further investigation is underway to gather additional evidence and ensure strict legal action against the accused.
