Nine More Arrested in MV-26 Violence Case

Malkangiri: The Malkangiri district administration has arrested nine more persons in connection with the violence and arson incident at MV-26 village, taking the total number of arrests to 15. Police said efforts are continuing to trace and apprehend others involved in the incident.

Relief materials sent by the Indian Red Cross Society reached the affected villages seven days after the violence. The district administration has begun distributing cooked food, blankets, clothing, kitchen sets, tarpaulins, utensils and water pots to the affected families. Rehabilitation and restoration work is also underway.

Nabarangpur Member of Parliament Balabhadra Majhi visited MV-26 and Rakhalguda villages to review the situation on the ground. The MP held discussions with the District Magistrate and went door-to-door to assess the extent of damage and interact with the affected residents.

Speaking to the media, Majhi said the situation is gradually returning to normal. He added that electricity and drinking water connections have been restored in the affected areas. However, schools remain closed, causing difficulties for students.

The Malkangiri District Collector said schools would be reopened soon, with arrangements in place for mid-day meals. As the situation has improved, Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) has been lifted from MV-26 and Rakhalguda villages. Internet services, however, will remain suspended across the district until tomorrow as a precautionary security measure.

Meanwhile, police have further tightened security arrangements in the area to prevent any fresh incidents and to maintain law and order.
