Baripada: In a swift and commendable operation, Baripada Town Police on Saturday rescued a newborn male child who had been stolen from the Baripada District Headquarters Hospital earlier in the day. The infant was safely reunited with his mother later in the evening.
According to reports, the baby was abducted by a woman identified as Parvati Hembram. Hospital staff raised an alarm after discovering the child missing, following which police immediately reviewed CCTV footage to identify the suspect.
Acting on the leads, a police team launched a search and conducted a raid in the Baisinga police station area, where the accused was traced and the newborn rescued.
“The suspect was identified through CCTV footage. After locating her in Baisinga, we rescued the newborn. Her husband revealed that they are childless and had taken away the baby,” said Karunakar Rout, IIC of Baripada Town Police Station.
The rescued infant was handed over to his mother at Baripada District Headquarters Hospital around 4 PM. The accused woman has been taken into custody, and further investigation is underway.
