Mutilated body of youth recovered from pond in Kantabanji
Kantabanji: The mutilated body of a youth was recovered from a pond in Balangir district of Odisha on Friday. The incident took place in the Bhalumunda village under Bangomunda police limits in Kantabanji area of the district. The deceased’s family has claimed it to be a case of murder.
The deceased has been identified as Kesari Bag, a resident of the same village.
As per the information received, the villagers spotted the body floating in the Bandali pond when they had gone to attend natural call in the morning hours.
They immediately informed the police about it.
After getting information, Bangomunda police rushed to the spot and fished out the body from the river water. The body was in mutilated state.
However, the family members alleged that Kesari Bag was murdered and his body was dumped in the pond to destroy evidence.
Following the incident, teams from Bangomunda and Muribahal police stations, along with the Kantabanji SDPO, reached the spot and launched an investigation. The body has been sent for autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
Police said further action will be taken based on the post-mortem report. Further details are awaited.
