Malkangiri Girl, 10, Dies After Father Denies Mobile Phone

Malkangiri: In a tragic incident from Dhepasahi village under Mathili police station limits in Malkangiri district, a 10-year-old girl allegedly died by suicide after her father refused to let her use his mobile phone.

According to reports, the girl, daughter of Arjun Kisan, had requested her father’s phone, but he declined, stating it was needed for work purposes. Upset over the refusal, the minor reportedly waited until her father fell asleep on the verandah before taking the extreme step.

Family members later found her hanging with a towel inside the house. The shocking incident has left the local community in deep sorrow.

Police have registered a case and launched an investigation to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the girl’s death. Authorities said the incident highlights growing concerns about children’s increasing emotional dependence on digital devices and the need for greater awareness about digital well-being and mental health.
