Four from Odisha Conferred Padma Shri by President Droupadi Murmu

Bhubaneswar: Four distinguished personalities from Odisha were conferred with the prestigious Padma Shri awards by President Droupadi Murmu during the Civil Investiture Ceremony-I held at the Ganatantra Mandap of Rashtrapati Bhawan on Monday.
The Odisha awardees for 2025 include Adwaita Charan Gadanayak, a celebrated sculptor from Dhenkanal, recognized for his outstanding contributions to art; Dr. Ashok Kumar Mahapatra, former Director of AIIMS Bhubaneswar, honored for his exemplary service in medicine; Durga Charan Ranbir, acclaimed for his achievements in the field of art; and Pratibha Satpathy, recognized for her significant contributions to literature and education.
During the ceremony, a total of 4 Padma Vibhushan, 10 Padma Bhushan, and 57 Padma Shri awards were presented across various fields.
The Padma Awards, among the highest civilian honors in India, are classified into three categories: Padma Vibhushan for exceptional and distinguished service, Padma Bhushan for distinguished service of a higher order, and Padma Shri for distinguished service in any field.
The grand event was attended by Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, several Union Ministers, and other dignitaries.
On Tuesday, the awardees are scheduled to pay homage at the National War Memorial, followed by visits to Rashtrapati Bhawan and the Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya.
