Forester Killed, Three Injured in Road Mishap in Nabarangpur

Bhubaneswar: A Forester lost his life and three others, including two Forest Department officials, sustained critical injuries in a road accident in Odisha’s Nabarangpur district on Wednesday.
The deceased has been identified as Gupta Prasad Mohanty, Forester of Jharigaon Range. The injured have been identified as Tanuj Kumar Parichha (Forester, Jharigaon Range), Kamakhya Prasad Singhdeo (Forester, Umerkote Range), and the driver of a pick-up van.

According to reports, the mishap occurred near Dengaguda Square under Papadahandi block on the Bharatmala road connecting Visakhapatnam and Raipur. The officials were reportedly travelling in a car to G. Udayagiri in Kandhamal district to attend a Forest Department training programme when a speeding pick-up van collided head-on with their vehicle.
Mohanty died on the spot, while the other three sustained serious injuries. Local residents immediately rushed to the scene and helped rescue the injured, who were taken to Nabarangpur District Headquarters Hospital (DHH). Later, the two critically injured Foresters were shifted to Visakhapatnam for advanced treatment after their condition worsened.
Police have launched an investigation into the accident.
