Dry Weather to Prevail Across Odisha for Next Few Days: IMD

Bhubaneswar: Dry weather conditions are likely to continue across Odisha over the next several days as no significant synoptic system is currently influencing the region, the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Bhubaneswar, said in its Midday Weather Bulletin issued on Thursday.

The Met Centre reported shallow fog at one or two places in Jagatsinghpur, Sundergarh and Kalahandi districts during the early morning hours. Similar foggy conditions are expected to prevail at isolated locations during morning hours in several districts, including Khordha, Cuttack, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Balasore, Puri and Nayagarh in the coming days.

According to the IMD, minimum temperatures have fallen appreciably by 2–3 degrees Celsius at isolated places in North Interior Odisha, while no significant change was observed elsewhere. Minimum temperatures remained below normal by about 2–3 degrees Celsius in parts of North Interior and Coastal Odisha, although a few pockets recorded slightly above-normal temperatures.

The highest maximum temperature in the state was recorded at 32.3°C in Bhubaneswar, while the lowest minimum temperature of 9.3°C was registered at Jharsuguda in the plains. The Met Department has forecast no major change in night temperatures over the next four to five days.

For Bhubaneswar and adjoining areas, fog or mist is likely during the morning hours, followed by a mainly clear sky later in the day. The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to be around 31°C and 13°C respectively.

The IMD has not issued any weather warnings for farmers or fishermen along the Odisha coast for the next five days.
