Cobra and 16 Eggs Rescued from Stone Pile in Puri Village

Puri: A 4-foot-long cobra along with 16 eggs was rescued from a pile of stones in Arjunasinghapur village under Satasankha police limits in Puri district on Tuesday.

According to locals, labourers were shifting stones when they suddenly spotted a snake, triggering panic at the site. On closer inspection, they also found a cluster of white eggs beneath the stones.

Following information from villagers, members of Snake Helpline reached the spot and carried out a rescue operation. During careful removal of the stone pile, the team recovered 16 eggs along with eggshells of those that had already hatched.

The rescued cobra was safely released into its natural habitat. The 16 eggs have been preserved for conservation purposes, and arrangements are being made for artificial incubation to aid hatching.
