Class VI Student Stabbed by Senior Inside School Campus in Dhenkanal

Kamakshyanagar/Dhenkanal: A disturbing incident of violence involving minors has been reported from Kamakshyanagar in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district, where a Class VI student was allegedly stabbed by a senior inside a school campus in Samatanga village.
The incident occurred on January 9 at a government upper primary school but came to light after the victim’s parents lodged a complaint with the police. The injured student, identified as Chandan Naik, was immediately rushed to the Anlabereni Community Health Centre, where he is currently undergoing treatment. Doctors said his condition is serious but stable and that he narrowly escaped a major injury.

According to reports, students were playing on the school premises when a Class VII student from the same village allegedly attacked Chandan over a trivial issue. The knife reportedly pierced Chandan’s cheek, leaving him bleeding profusely on the school campus. He was promptly taken to hospital for medical care.
Chandan’s parents, Samir Naik and Mamuli Naik, said they were informed about the incident nearly an hour later by local residents. They rushed to the school and shifted their son to the hospital for treatment.
Following the incident, Chandan’s mother lodged a formal complaint at the Kamakshyanagar police station. The parents have demanded strict administrative action, expressing grave concern over the shocking act of violence involving minors within a school campus.
The incident has triggered anxiety among local residents and parents, raising serious questions about student safety, discipline, and supervision in schools.
