Bhubaneswar to Expand, Boost Urban Growth

Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s capital, Bhubaneswar, is set for significant expansion, with plans to transform the city into a model urban center, Housing & Urban Development Minister Dr. Krushna Chandra Mahapatra announced today.

The state government is focused on increasing investments in the region, with plans to extend Bhubaneswar’s boundaries. An MoU was signed during the recent visit of Singapore’s President to Odisha, solidifying the vision for the city’s future growth.

As part of the expansion, the state also plans to establish additional corporations to enhance urban areas across Odisha. “We are working to include more urban areas under the Town Planning (TP) Scheme,” Mahapatra stated, adding that the government aims to transform Puri into an international city.

Plans for infrastructure improvement include the development of ring roads and the widening of existing roads to accommodate the growing urban population.

Regarding the ongoing Metro Train project, the Minister revealed that Odisha’s Chief Minister will review the Metro’s progress after the Utkarsh Odisha Conclave, with work set to commence soon.
