Bhubaneswar Prepares for Pravasi Bharatiya Divas 2025

Bhubaneswar: Bhubaneswar is in the final stages of preparation for the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas 2025, set to welcome thousands of overseas Indians from January 8.

Housing and Urban Development Minister Krushna Chandra Mohapatra conducted an inspection today, assessing sanitation, road conditions, and beautification along key routes from Airport Chowk to Nandankanan and Janata Maidan.

City walls have been decorated with traditional Odisha art, and public spaces cleaned and enhanced. Engineers were directed to repair potholes and uneven surfaces, with additional instructions to paint trees and fences to enhance the city’s aesthetic appeal.

To offer guests a cultural experience, a food festival and tribal fair will take place at the exhibition grounds, featuring authentic Odia cuisine. Special transport arrangements will take visiting NRIs to Puri in double-decker buses for a visit to the Jagannath Temple.

Following the inspection, Minister Mohapatra urged businesses, corporate entities, and residents to contribute to cleanliness efforts.

“Our goal is to create an unforgettable experience for our overseas guests. Bhubaneswar is a city of heritage and hospitality, and I encourage all stakeholders to help present it at its finest,” he stated.

The inspection was attended by senior officials, including BMC Commissioner Rajesh Prabhakar Patil and BDA Vice Chairman Tirumala Nayak.
