Bargarh Dhanu Jatra 2025 to Commence From Today

Bargarh: From today, the world’s largest open-air theatre, the famous Dhanu Yatra is going to kick start in Bargarh. Various scenes of Krishnalila will be performed on this occasion as this Western Odishan town will turn Mathura for a few days.

As per reports, today the opening ceremony of the Dhanu Yatra will be held. From today, the city of Bargarh will turn into the Mathura city of the Dwapar era.

The reign of Kansa will commence in Bargarh cum Mathura today that is to continue till end of the Yatra. According to tradition, the police administration will follow the instructions of Maharaj Kansa.

Similarly, Ambapali will turn into Gopapur and the Jira River will be counted as the Yamuna River. Maharaj Kansa’s Rangamahal has been built in the Lok Mandap field of ​​the town.

Maharaj Kansa’s Darbar will also continue in the streets of Bargarh where he will levy fines. Mathuranagari will tremble with the laughter and orders of Kansa.

The Dhanu Yatra festival will be organized on 22 stages within a radius of about seven kilometers of Bargarh.

Scenes of Dhanu Yatra are performed daily in Kansa Darbar, Rangamahal and Nanda Darbar. Various pictures and characters of Dhanu Yatra have been drawn on the walls of Bargarh town.

The entire town has been decorated for Dhanu Yatra. Dhanu Yatra will continue for 11 days till 13th. This time, Bargarh Dhanu Yatra has entered its 77th year.

Odisha government has increased the grant amount for the Dhanu Yatra Festival of Bargarh to Rs 1.5 crore. This was informed by Odisha Government Culture Minister Suryavansi Suraj in a press conference earlier. He said that this time a glimpse of Odia’s uniqueness (Odia Asmita) will be seen in Dhanu Yatra. For this increased grant, 170 leading artists of the Dhanu Yatra will get a cash prize of Rs 10,000.

It is to be noted that an expert committee has been formed to get Dhanu Yatra recognized by UNESCO. Similarly, the government is creating a special website for all the information related to Dhanu Yatra and has also taken steps to broadcast Dhanu Yatra live on LED screens across the state.
