Amit Shah Reviews Delhi Blast Probe, Orders Swift Action

New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday reviewed the ongoing investigation into the Delhi blast and the extensive multi-state searches launched to trace those behind the deadly explosion near the Red Fort Metro Station. The blast, which occurred on Monday evening, claimed at least eight lives and left several others injured.

Chairing a high-level meeting at his residence, Shah reiterated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s resolve to bring the perpetrators to justice and directed agencies to uncover the full conspiracy at the earliest.

The meeting was attended by Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Intelligence Bureau Director Tapan Kumar Deka, Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golcha, and NIA Director General Sadanand Vasant Date. Jammu and Kashmir DGP Nalin Prabhat joined virtually.

Officials said a special team of over 500 security personnel has been formed for the investigation. Security has been heightened across Delhi-NCR, with NSG commandos deployed at vital installations. Over 1,000 CCTV footage clips are being examined, while investigators are also collecting and analysing mobile dump data from the Red Fort area to trace possible communication links related to the bombing.

Preliminary findings suggest the car explosion may have been a suicide attack, aimed at causing mass casualties, police sources said.

Amit Shah instructed the NIA, IB, and Delhi Police Special Cell to work in close coordination, asserting that “no stone will be left unturned” in the pursuit of justice. High alerts have been issued in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Mumbai, with tightened security at crowded areas and religious sites.

The explosion involved a Haryana-registered Hyundai i20 parked near Gate No.1 of the Red Fort Metro Station. The impact killed eight people instantly and injured several others.

Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing a gathering in Bhutan’s Thimphu, condemned the attack and assured swift action against those responsible. “Our agencies will get to the bottom of this conspiracy. The conspirators behind this will not be spared,” he said, expressing solidarity with the victims’ families.

Meanwhile, the BJP accused the Congress and its allies of attempting to politicise the tragedy. Party IT cell head Amit Malviya wrote on X, “If being shameless and working against national interest had a face, it would look exactly like the Congress.” He added that the Opposition “does not know how to stand with the country in times of need.”
