Odisha Sizzles as Eight Places Record 40°C or Above

Bhubaneswar: Heatwave-like conditions gripped Odisha as eight places recorded maximum temperatures of 40°C and above, with Jharsuguda registering the highest at 41.4°C on Thursday, according to the IMD regional center.

Baripada, Sambalpur, Hirakud, Balangir, Titlagarh, Boudh, and Bhadrak also recorded maximum temperatures between 40°C and 41°C. Meanwhile, seven other locations, including Angul, Sundargarh, Bhawanipatna, Sonepur, Paralakhemundi, Dhenkanal, and Rourkela, saw temperatures between 39°C and 40°C.

Bhubaneswar recorded a maximum of 38.2°C, while Cuttack reported 37.5°C.

The IMD has predicted no significant change in maximum temperatures over the next five days. A heatwave warning has been issued for several districts, including Jharsuguda, Sonepur, Boudh, Sambalpur, Balangir, Kalahandi, Sundargarh, Bargarh, Kandhamal, and Nuapada, until March 18.
