IMD Warns of Dense Fog, Cold Wave in Several Odisha Districts on Dec 8–9

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast dense fog and cold wave conditions in multiple districts of Odisha over the next two days, issuing yellow warnings for several regions.

For December 8, dense fog is likely at one or two places in Sundargarh, Kandhamal, and Koraput districts. Cold wave conditions may prevail in isolated pockets of Angul, Jharsuguda, Khordha, and Jagatsinghpur, the IMD said.

The weather agency has predicted similar conditions for December 9, with dense fog expected again in Sundargarh, Kandhamal, and Koraput, while Angul, Jharsuguda, Khordha, and Jagatsinghpur may continue to experience cold wave conditions.

Residents have been advised to remain cautious, particularly during early morning hours when fog-related low visibility could impact travel and road safety.

According to IMD data, Paralakhemundi recorded the highest maximum temperature at 30.2°C, while Rourkela registered the lowest minimum temperature of 7.2°C, marking the coldest point in the plains of Odisha.
