9 Migrant Workers from Rayagada Rescued from Gujarat Detention

Rayagada: Nine migrant workers from Rayagada district, who were reportedly detained by their employer in Gujarat, have been rescued and brought back to Odisha.

The workers had traveled to Gujarat for employment but were allegedly held against their will by the company. Upon receiving the information, the Rayagada district administration, led by Collector Parul Patawari, coordinated with the Gujarat government and the Odisha Labour Department to secure their release.

The rescued workers, six from Bisamkatak block and three from Kashipur block, were sent back to Rayagada by train, according to District Labour Officer Gopal Mangaraj.

Authorities have launched an investigation to identify the broker involved in the incident. Efforts are also underway to ensure the workers receive their pending wages.
