2 groups clash during Durga Puja idol immersion in Cuttack

Cuttack: Two groups clashed during the Durga Puja Bhasani in Cuttack late last night. Cuttack DCP Rishikesh Khillari also sustained injuries during the group clash.

According to information, two groups clashed during the Durga Puja immersion procession in Cuttack. The clash occurred near the Hatipokhari in Daraghabazar when Maa’s procession was underway.

The scuffle occurred due to slogans by one group. As many as eight people have sustained injuries in the clash. They have been rushed to SCB Medical college and Hospital.

During the procession of Maa’s Melani late at night, two groups clashed with stones and glass bottles. The DCP of Cuttack was injured in this. The situation was such that the police had to lathicharge.

Following the scuffle, the Bhasani procession of Maa’s idol was stopped for 5 hours as the clash escalated. The road was blocked by placing medhas at Meriya Bazaar Chowk.
