15 IPS Officers assigned to oversee 17 districts in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: In order to maintain law and enhance police accountability, the Odisha Police have assigned senior IPS officers to oversee the functioning of police units in selected districts.

The Odisha Police has deputed 15 senior IPS officers to conduct comprehensive monitoring and inspections across 17 districts.

Under this special drive, senior officers including Additional Directors General of Police (ADGPs) and Inspectors General of Police (IGPs) will personally visit their assigned districts. They will assess the overall functioning of police stations, review law and order management, and thoroughly examine complaints of alleged custodial misconduct or use of third-degree methods. The officers have been directed to submit detailed reports to the Director General of Police within 15 days of their inspections.

Crime Branch DG Vinaytosh Mishra has been entrusted with the responsibility of overseeing Balasore and Bhadrak districts. Special Operations ADG Sanjeeb Panda has been assigned Koraput and Rayagada districts, where he will monitor policing and administrative preparedness.

Meanwhile, ADG Soumendra Priyadarshi has been assigned Jagatsinghpur district, while Railway ADG Arun Bothra will oversee Angul district. Law and Order ADG Sanjay Kumar has been given charge of Sambalpur district, while ADG Rajesh Kumar will monitor Nayagarh. ADG Prateek Mohanty has been assigned Jajpur district, ADG Jatindra Koel will oversee Kalahandi, and ADG S. Saini will oversee Bolangir district.

Among the IG-rank officers, IG S. Praveen Kumar has been assigned Kandhamal district, IG Gajviye Satish Kumar Eshwardas will oversee Dhenkanal, IG Deepak Kumar has been given charge of Malkangiri, and IG Anup Kumar Sahu will supervise Puri district. Similarly, IG Abinash Kumar has been assigned Mayurbhanj, while IG Sarthak Sarangi will oversee Kendrapara district.
